There’s a saying that
* The war road was built because in the early period of Japanese rule the aborigine resisted the Japanese. Acting on intelligence, the Japanese transported ammunition and mortars and other weapons along the ridge at night, turning what was a path used by the aborigines into a military road, and built a gun emplacement on Meilun Mountain opposite in preparation for an attack on Xitoushe. The aborigines also ambushed the Japanese along the road. This section contains folk tales and legends that have not been proven by historians. It is only for the purpose of entertaining and supplying additional information to tourists.
