Taiwan Tourist Shuttle to take visitors to leisurely explore verdant Tianchi and Changqing Shrine under the morning Sun in Zhongzhiguan

2020-09-20

After more than 10 years since Typhoon Morakot struck Taoyuan Tribe, ruining all of its attractions and roads including Tianchi and Zhongzhiguan Historic Trail, the Meishankou-Tianchi Section of the Southern Cross-Island Highway is finally accessible to visitors again. Thanks to construction workers’ hard work, people can now explore Zhongzhiguan freely.
“Zhongzhiguan Historic Trail” refers to a hiking trail that connects Zhongzhiguan and Tianchi. It is parallel to the Southern Cross-Island Highway. The trail meanders through beautiful seasonal forests that look like the abode of Japanese animation character “Totoro.” The trail dates back to indigenous Bunun’s migration times. It also served as a special road for the police during the Japanese Rule. Visitors can learn much about Zhongzhishan’s nature and history as they walk the trail.
In conjunction with the promotion of Taiwan Tourist Shuttle by the Tourism Bureau, 1-day and 2-day tours featuring Zhongzhiguan Historic Trail in Taoyuan are now available. The tour participants can expect to enjoy a feast for their eyes as the buses pass through graceful Southern Cross-Island Highway. They may also want to take hot spring baths in Baolai and Bulao of Liugui. To encourage people to register for the tours, 100 local farm gifts are now offered to participants of 2-day tours on a first come, first served basis. Book a seat for yourself as quickly as you can, if you are curious about Zhongzhiguan!
