To promote eco-tourism in Taiwan and to encourage people to get close to the country’s beautiful nature, the Tourism Bureau under Ministry of Transport and Communications is launching a series of thematic tours. A press conference was recently held to celebrate the inauguration of the 2017 Ecotourism Year and the content of the tours was introduced. The Bureau also announced the holding of a prize draw and some more national scenic area eco-tours. For the first time, a “tourism ambassador election” will be held, too, and all members of the public are cordially invited to take part.
The Bureau organized a committee with Taiwan Ecotourism Association to select the thematic tours out of the ones proposed by various domestic travel agencies. Such include visits to indigenous tribes, nighttime firefly-watching tours, wetland ecological tours, offshore island tours, forest trail walks, and butterfly and flower-watching tours. All the tours aim to take people to learn more about Taiwan’s beauty and magnificence. Again, the Bureau will hold the “ambassador election” soon.
