    Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus can be found on Provincial Highway No. 24 in Wutai Township. Set up in Shenshan Tribe in 1959, it is also known as the Shenshan Catholic Church.

The church was built with slate stones and has several special features. One of them is the human-shaped bench carved by the local indigenous people. Human sculptures forming the bench all look to their right-hand side, or the direction from which sunrises, implying hope. Another special feature is a beehive inside the church, which symbolizes solidarity, characteristic of the local indigenous tribe, who work and live together in a tribe like bees in a beehive that protects them.

Visitors are recommended to spend half an hour here. Those who wish to visit the church should book a place at the local community development association. Also, please note that a permit is required to enter Wutai Township and that larger vehicles such as trucks and tour buses are prohibited from entering the region.

This place is worth visiting. There is the largest and hardest stone on the left side of the entrance. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo. The chairs in the place of worship are really special and carefully. There are backpacks on the chairs, which is a sacred and solemn place. If you want to ask, you can go in and sit and take pictures, but remember to drag off your shoes!

The chairs in the church are carved out of wood, like the terracotta warriors of the mainland, and it is very interesting to look to the right with all eyes, and there is an angel made of stone slabs outside.

It is a beautiful and meaningful place ~ the spirit of Christianity and Rukai culture is combined and passed on. It is recommended to find a local guide to understand the story and meaning of each place better.

A very distinctive Catholic church, the feature is the worship chairs in the church, but unfortunately the door was locked on the day of the visit, the reflection of the window glass and the blocking of the screen window made it impossible to take pictures to commemorate...

Churches or Catholic churches located in aboriginal tribes can always be built in combination with the characteristics of the tribe. Take the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church as an example. The totems and shapes on the wall are really eye-catching. Perhaps the Township Office considers that it can raise some funds and officially plan this place as a tourist attraction, so that the church can open the church for ordinary tourists (or churchgoers) to come here, similar to the model of the Fenchihu Catholic Church in Alishan. Pilgrimage, rest, and taking pictures allow everyone to get a glimpse of the full view of the special seats in the church, rather than just "looking inside the window" to obtain an incomplete and partial "oblique view". The patterns engraved on the walls of the square are really impressive... ※ The shared photo was taken on March 15, 2016 (Wednesday)
