Maolin National Scenic Area, where most of the attractions are in the mountains, spans two counties, Kaohsiung and Pingtung. We recommend that tourists choose to drive there or take public transportation to Kaohsiung or Pingtung and then transfer to the city bus, rent a car, or charter a vehicle to reach the tourist destination.

City bus
Taking city buses is very cost-effective, with mileage-based billing. Numerous bus stops and schedules make it a convenient mode of transportation in the city.
Recommended Route
Pingtung Bus:Depart from Pingtung Transfer Station, take 8227, and get off at Sandimen Township Office. Walk for about 10 minutes to reach Timur Art Park. Alternatively, take the 8233 towards Wutai, which has attractions such as Timur Art Park, Guchuan Recreation Area, and Shen-Shan Tribe.
Kaohsiung Bus:
To Pingtung → Depart from Kaohsiung High Speed Rail Zuoying Station and Shuimen Transfer Station; take 511 to the Liangshan Recreation Area in Majia. Alternatively, you can take the 603B from the Shuimen Transfer Station to reach the Liangshan Recreation Area, Rinari (Visitor Center), Majia Visitor Center, Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Culture Park, and Shanchuan Liuli Suspension Bridge (Qinata a Kakiunangan a Tjekezain).
To Kaohsiung → From Qishan Bus Transfer Station, take H31 to Xinwei Forest Park, Maolin Visitor Center, Dragon Head Mountain Scenic Area, and Duona Tribe. From Kaohsiung Station or HSR Zuoying Station, take the Kaohsiung E25 GaoQi Liouguei Express, passing Xinwei Forest Park, and arrive at Liouguei City Area.
