Let's have fun in mountain town!

2016-08-24

On Saturday August 27, 2016, an indigenous weekend art fair entitled "Let’s Have Fun at Your Place!" will kick off amid much fanfare at the Haocha Visitor Info Station Square in Rinari Tribe, Majia Township, Pingtung County. The organizer, Maolin National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transport and Communications, cordially invites fans of indigenous art and culture to take part.

Until October 9 including the Mid-Moon Festival vacation period, every weekend the art fair will continue, accompanied by indigenous singing and dance. Friendly staff in traditional indigenous clothes will be serving tea to visitors on site and helping them out at the indigenous photo-taking zone.

During the time when the fair is held, from 9am to 4:45pm, shuttle services between the mountain area and northern Pingtung will be available, at 45-minute intervals, starting from both the Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Culture Park and Liudui Hakka Cultural Park. Schedules may be slightly adjusted on site. With a small fee of NT$10 the passenger may spare himself/herself from the pain of finding a parking space.

For the first time, craftsmen and restaurant owners from the Bunun, Hla'alua and Rukai tribes in Taoyuan and Maolin Districts in Kaohsiung will also sell their products on another weekend fair called “Dice 18!” between October 8 and 30 in the Shibaluohan Mountain Service Area. Flamboyant indigenous singing and dance will also be performed. Visitors are encouraged to play a special dice game. As long as the visitor gets a number of 18 or more with four dices at once, he or she will receive a small gift. At the fair, delicious food is served, fun games may be played, and free gifts are to be sent, ensuring everyone with a fulfilling, happy day.
