For spring visitors in the Year of the Tiger, Maolin National Scenic Area Administration recommends 5 scenic spots to take photographs in East Kaohsiung

During the pandemic, avoiding crowds by visiting mountains and forest areas is an excellent idea. To that end, Maolin National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau recommends 5 scenic spots in Maolin, and invites people to visit this spring and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

"38 Hectare Cherry Blossom Park" has 5,000 cherry trees that are in full bloom right now. Mountain cherries, Yoshino cherries and Kawazu cherry blossoms cover the mountains and forests in a pink blanket. Visitors can also enjoy aboriginal-style gourmet food and drink, while they experience live Bunun singing and dancing at Baoshan Holiday Market.

"Borai Hot Spa Area" is classified as a "bicarbonate spa", with colorless and transparent warm spring water. It is known as the "The Beautiful Skin Spa" and a visit will make your skin feel silky smooth. After admiring the scenery you can also drop by the hot spa areas of Bora and Bulao to enjoy the natural “Beauty enhancing spring water.”

"Xinwei Forest Park" has a 2km-long mahogany trail where visitors can enjoy the romantic atmosphere while out strolling. The park also has sophisticated and profound installation art, making it a popular check-in scenic spot on the Internet.

With the promotion of the " Heart of Liugui" township renaissance project, "Liugui Old Street," also located in Liugui District, was rebuilt to reach from the mountain to the city and Laonong River. This creates a new development axis incorporating tourism, recreation, culture and local goods. There is a Butterfly Garden, Bamboo Trails, Tianman Temple Prayer Memorial Square and Fugui Stone Ladder Viewing Platform, as well as century-old Ikeda House and Hongkunyuan Shop. Make your way to Old Street to experience the different cultural customs of Liugui, before enjoying a relaxing spa in Baolai.

"Maolin Ecological Park" is home to thousands of purple monarch butterflies that in winter take flight during the daytime. Thousands upon of thousands of butterflies flutter their beautiful purple wings and arrive at the foot of Dawu Mountain in southern Taiwan to escape the winter. A visit to "Purple Butterfly Valley" is a wonderful experience that lover’s of nature will not want to miss.

Promotion of the 2022 "Multi-Bike Route GoBikeTAIWAN Play and Ride Certification" program launched by the Tourism Bureau is also in full swing. The only mountain journey - "Maolin-Kaohsiung Mountain City Route" starts in Meinong District of Kaohsiung City. Along the way, visitors can admire the beautiful Meinong Lake, the idyllic scenery of Provincial Highway 28, the changeable terrain of Shiba Luohan Mountain and the lush green Xinwei Forest Park.
