    Liang-Shan Recreational Area

Located on Pingtung’s Provincial Route 185, the Liang-Shan Recreational Area is a natural paradise. Its flowing river cools down the summer heat, while visitors enjoy aromatic coffee next to its majestic waterfall. Hiking enthusiasts can also embark on the hiking trail and enjoy Mother Nature’s scenic and serene atmosphere. A few campsites are found next to the hunter’s huts in this spacious area, where families can truly relax and enjoy the tranquility of nature. Starting from the entrance, those who love taking pictures will be kept busy by photo spots such as the Hobbiton village, fishpond, and the goats, while family travelers can enjoy the waterfall. The relaxing hike should take no more than one hour and makes for an ideal weekend getaway.

Visitors are encouraged to spend 2 hours here visiting the waterfall or to take pictures with the Hobbiton or rainbow steps at the Recreational Area.

Poorly kept. A smattering of food stalls and empty open arenas. It is a cross between an abandoned night market (no vendors were available although it was the weekend) and a local park. There was no water flow during my visit so there’s no waterfall. Don’t be fooled by the high ratings.

Not the most spectacular place in Taiwan in my opinion but a very nice place for a family activity.

This is a beautiful Waterfall to visit. They have entertainment on the weekends and various exhibits. The first Waterfall is ready to see. The upper Waterfall is a 1.5km uphill hike. Worth visiting.

Hiking trail is so steep. Need extra careful when hiking. 1km of hiking to reach the falls.

Entrance fee required. Convenient parking. Short paved trail great for strollers. Different insects and butterflies to discover along the walkway. The park also has a few hobbit style buildings, fish feeding ponds and even a small pen with lamas and goats. Overall the paved walkway is very clean and there’s a lot of butterflies if the season is correct! “This post is only for the short paved walkway leading up to the mountain path”
