    Suai-A-Ka Cultural Space

Located at Baolai Village in Liugui District, Kaohsiung, and next to South Cross-Island Highway, Suai-A-Ka Cultural Space derived its name from the Taiwanese phrase for “beneath a mango tree”. This cultural space is the fruitful result of local residents’ hard work transforming an abandoned warehouse with traditional methods and natural materials, including pebbles, driftwood, rice grains, and straws. Suai-A-Ka is operated by the Baolai Cultural Society of Kaohsiung City.

The goal is to achieve peaceful coexistence with nature in living, ecology, and production, and promote rebuilding, benefits, talent development, and industry developments in the local community. Industries it fosters include pottery, plant-based dyes, and stone oven-baked bread.

Visitors are encouraged to spend 3 hours here and to schedule appointments for a variety of DIY workshops, including pottery, dyes, stone oven bread baking, and stone oven pizza baking. Come and experience co-prosperity with nature.

For more than 10 people, you can make a reservation for dining (individual set meal) and making pottery cups. For more than 20 people, you can make reservations for large pot dishes, just like what we had. Home-cooked dishes that combine local ingredients are hearty and delicious. My favorite is the fried tofu with plum sauce. I think I would like to arrange a family dinner during the Chinese New Year if I have the opportunity in the future. There is also bread sold at the door. A friend recommended the borscht bread, which is really delicious and has the aroma of kiln-baked pizza.

Come buy bread this time Borscht bread-dense and delicious, with a faint aroma of wood burning, super delicious French mango - sold super fast, luckily I got it I bought hand-made plum sauce and hand-made rag seeds. They will be delicious when you go home to stir-fry vegetables and meat. There is a parking lot next to it which is safer and you don’t have to park on the side of the road.
