The Sandimen An-Po Biking Trail is located alongside Pingtung County Highway No. 185. The circular trail is the first of its kind in Pingtung.
It stretches across 42 kilometers and passes through townships such as Gaoshu and Sandimen in the farthest north of Pingtung and smaller villages such as Saijia, Koushe, Qingshan, and Maer. The trail is one of the most popular among cyclists for the diverse natural and cultural landscape and picturesque view along the way. Riding on the curvy trail, cyclists can see Hakka and indigenous tribes, as well as bucolic scenes rolling out in front of their eyes.
Cyclists are recommended to ride at their own pace and make sure that they wear a helmet and bring enough water. They should also take care to prevent sunburn from cycling. Moreover, they should be mindful that some parts of the trail are steeper than others, and make sure that they always use both the front and the rear brakes when slowing down on steep surfaces.
