The Sandimen Cultural Center can be found in Zhongshan Park right across the Sandimen Township Office. It is where a shrine from the Japanese colonial era used to be.
The center is designed to look like a traditional slate stone house, reflecting the culture of the local indigenous community. There are a variety of artworks created by local people in the center, which also organizes exhibitions of different themes from time to time in order to promote local culture, specialties, and industry.
The center features a wide range of facilities and displays in the complex. Inside the center are an exhibition zone, a multimedia room, and a performance hall. Outside the museum, there is a large public display made from painted beads, clay pots, and bronze knives on the left-hand side and an observatory towering above the grassland on the right-hand side. Climbing up to the second floor of the observatory, visitors can admire the mountains, forests, and rivers in Sandimen Township.
Visitors are recommended to spend an hour at the center. Please note that the multimedia room on the center’s second floor is only open to the Sandimen Township authority or when there are educational events.
