Starting from Liugui Xinwei Forest Park, where you can enjoy the mountain scenery and Laonong River scenery in the area, then go to Ikeda House and Pulai Xitoushe Battle Road to feel the traces left by history. Finally, visit Liugui Mountain Tea Story House to taste the fragrance of tea and then take unique souvenirs home.

DAY 1
Xinwei Forest Park
The Xinwei Forest Park sits on a tableland on the west bank of the Laonong River, around the 45km mark of the Provincial Highway No. 28. Since it is 200 meters above sea level, visitors can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the Central Mountain Range and Laonong River below. The forest park used to be the biggest seedling plantation in Taiwan and covered an area of about 29 hectares. It is now home to more than 200 kinds of seedlings, mostly tropical plants. Mahogany, bamboo, and Chinese fir seedlings are most commonly seen in the plantation.

DAY 2
Pulai Stream Xitoushe War Road
The trail is the namesake of the Pulai Xitou Tribe that found itself situated at the watershed separating the Laonong River and the Baolai River. At the beginning of the 20th century, a Japanese anthropologist came across the relics of the Tribe, which also included the battlefield trail. The trail was built circling up the Meilong Hill to transport construction materials for a fort on the top in the Japanese colonial era, which was used to regulate the indigenous activities. The trail then became known as the Pulai Xitou Tribe Battle Field Trail now, serving as a reminder of history.
