DAY 1
Meinong Township
Meinong, preserved complete Hakka culture, is the largest Hakka town in Kaohsiung. Here, tourists can appreciate the local architectural features, experience painting oil paper umbrellas, and visit Hakka blue-dyed shirts. You can also taste traditional Hakka snacks like flat rice noodles and pounded tea. The rich Hakka cultural experience here has also become a popular tourist attraction that tourists love.
Jhujhimen Electricity Plant
Located in Meinong District and built in 1908, it is the first industrial monument in Taiwan. Its Baroque-style architectural appearance makes it the most beautiful century-old power plant in Taiwan.
Shenwei Tiantaishan Monastery
Shenwei Tiantai Temple is the largest Yiguandao temple in Taiwan. Located near the 14km mark of the Provincial Highway No. 27, the temple compound covers an area of over 300 hectares. The temple complex consists of a front, middle, and rear temple, which shines brightly under the sunlight and radiates solemnity. The Buddha statues sitting inside the temple are carved out from the largest white jade in Asia. They are held up by a table made of a hundred-year-old Cinnamomum camphora.
Baolai Hot Spring Area
The Baolai Hot Spring Area is located in Baolai Village of Liugui and can be accessed by Baolai Bridge No. 1. It is now a famous Hot Spring Resort in the south, but it used to be a pristine forest in the Japanese colonial era. Back then, the region was covered by cypress, camphor, and zelkova trees, forming a lush forest that ed the Japanese people to name the place Penglai Paradise, later known as Baolai.
DAY 2
Lovers' Tree
The Lovers' Tree is near the Bulao Hot Spring. The two-century-old banyan trees intertwin with their aerial roots, and from a distance, they look like they are hugging each other, so people call them the "Lovers' Tree," often attracting couples.
Zhulin Recreation Farm
The Zhulin Recreational Farm is located beside the Southern Cross-Island Highway. Sprawling across 400 to 1300 meters above sea level, the farm is where visitors can enjoy nice weather, appreciate the beauty of the Central Mountain Range, and take in the full view of the gurgling Baolai River below. In winter, the farm is turned into a secret paradise with plum flowers blossoming everywhere.
